The Hyūga Clan Compound (日向一族境内, “Hyūga Ichizoku Keidai”) is the district that the Hyūga Clan members reside within. From mere appearance alone, one can tell this area is kept in pristine condition and is extremely lavish. As one of the noble clans, they live their lives as such. In a sense, they also have their own economy going. The Hyūga Clan districts have specialized shops such as blacksmiths and clothing shops that are only accessible to members of the Hyūga. Within the center of the district is a rather large estate where the current Hyūga Lord (日向一族主, "Hyūga no Omo"), Sayū Hyūga, and Lady Sightseer ( 女性観光客, “Josei Kankōkyaku”), Hinome Hyūga reside.

There’s nothing that could hide from my range” - Hinome Hyūga

The wind was flowy and smooth and the outside noises were peaceful and graceful. There were sounds of birds, the pond’s water flowing with the fishes swimming around inside of it. As well as the sounds of the oh so calming wind chimes that moved along with the direction of the wind. This place was no other than one of the buildings inside the Hyūga Compound, the architecture structure of the building showed off the clan's wealth and it belonged to a certain woman that had made herself a name within the Clan over the years.

Soft footsteps were heard as the female her feet hit the wooden floor, she walked steadily but slowly as her body showed signs of slight exhaustion. The body belonged to no one other than Hyūga Hinome, one of the most skilled sensors of her clan, her eyes served extraordinary purposes and were of high importance. She wore her shoulders slight heavy and her face betrayed her slight tired expression as she exhaled loudly she stopped in her movements as she reached over to her hair tie and let her hair down, her indigo colored hair smoothly fell down reaching the height of her thighs she massaged her scalp to calm her roots down because of the way she had her hair up in a ponytail. The last occurring situations, she had been through were sure to raise her stress levels. The Country had been under attack and the woman blamed herself for not keeping guard to keep this land protected. The era of peace had softened a lot of people since the enemy was so easily among them. The Hyūga compound wasn’t involved in the explosions but she surely heard and saw the horrors from a far distance. She couldn’t make it to the scene to help them and so she held guilt to herself knowing she wasn’t able to help as the trauma was inevitable to many lives... Even after a few days the horrors of that day still did not escape the citizens' minds and this might be the first time the indigo woman was able to relax ever since the attack.

Once she continued her footsteps and made it to her bedroom she was met with darkness and no one in the room. “Hmm? Oh, it seems he hasn’t returned yet. Well, I am sure they are fine on the mission he knows what he’s doing... although I hope he’s not too harsh on them.”Who had she been referring to? It was no other than her Clanlord and fiancé Hyūga Sayū. It had been some time that he had left because the Hokage assigned him on a mission with his own team. She only found out after he had left because they had no chance to say their goodbyes, surely she had expected him to be back already but she had forgotten how dangerous the mission could be. Her mind was filled with worry once she recalled what the mission actually was when she was finally informed of her Fiancé’s whereabouts. Instantly she thought of the kid's faces. Yua Fujibayashi, the young girl who had the talents in skills of crystal release. Surely she was definitely gonna surpass her peers one day. And Kabuki Noh, a young kid filled with intelligence and creativity. It was no lie she was impressed with his unique fighting style he would surely make a name for himself. Along with Sayū, they would inspect what happened to the genin who was sent on a mission within the Suijin Continent. She really had hoped they were all safe.

“I hope they make it home with these kids soon, they have been gone for a while... but with the state, this village is in right now... will they really be happy to return home?”

Surely the downfall of another attack on the village had a large number of survivors but some did not get to see another day and many were injured from small to heavy injuries that could lead to fatalities. She wouldn’t wish any pain or suffering upon anybody, but in the meantime, she had learned that little Kabuki Noh had lost his home, and as well as his parents when they had assigned Hyūga clan members to check upon the bodies along with the medical ninja’s. What will they tell him? And he wasn’t the only kid to lose his home, there were many to be followed in the same fate.

Kaguya Rescue Mission Recap

“Kabu—!”

It was too late. Kabuki had already rushed straight in without thought. Emotion had caught the best of him and that was something Sayū wished he could better teach him. However, it wasn’t only him as Samiya and Yua had both also sprung into action backing up the young man. They were all too rash. Initiating a head-on attack with an unknown enemy at their level was not the optimal route to take. Not only that, but they had limited information and they were on the enemies’ terrain. Who knows what could be laying out there in the woods or even within the castle? How many reinforcements they had, abilities?. All this was unknown and it was for that reason he had taken them out. Samiya, Yua, and the others immediately left. Disappeared as if they had never existed. They had been transported to the Hyūga Compound. All except for Kabuki, who was charging in confidently in the beginning. Unfortunately, he’d have to use the young man as bait. As awful as that sounds. It was the only way Sayū could get the Kaguya as well, who from appearances, seemed to be from the Land of Water. Just as Kabuki had gotten close, Sayū would utilize the Flying Thunder God Technique to Space-Time directly in front of Kabuki. His hands-on his chest holding him back while his other hand placed on the Kaguya. Just as Sayū arrived before them, he was gone with both of them. The guards left bewildered. It didn’t matter if they didn’t blink. They could’ve kept their eyes wide open and tried to keep track of him, but it would be impossible. It was too fast.

Present

The door opened and Sayū stepped into the comfort of his home. He removed everything from his pockets and left it on the counter. Yes, this included the Taiwa Scroll as well. One foot hovered over the heel of his other foot and pushed down to assist in taking his shoe off. The same occurred for the other foot. You could tell he was tired. From the sound of his footsteps, one could easily tell that it was the steps of a lethargic man. In reality, he was tired. His feet were stinging as if he had been walking on a thousand needles and his knees ached so heavily that he just couldn’t wait to get off them, but he could only walk so fast. Sayū made his way through his estate. It wasn’t lavish, but you could tell he lived well. After all, the Hyūga was a noble clan. Money wasn’t an issue. He made his way all the way until he was in the living room where he plopped himself down onto the couch. His head tilted backed ever so slightly as he closed his eyes and inhaled deeply. Holding the air within his lungs ever so lightly before breathing out. The air around him was heavy as his shoulders as his arms rested upon the armrest of the cozy couch. Sayū was slowly sinking into the couch as his right hand came up and covered his eyes. His middle finger pressing down on the left temple while his thumb pressed down on the right temple as if he was trying to alleviate himself of a headache. Soreness and fatigue—a part of shinobi life not showcased or brought into the limelight.

There was a lot on his mind. He would be lying if he said there wasn’t. The responsibilities of the Hyūga Clan weighed down on. It wasn’t that the clan wasn’t listening, they listened, but he could tell it was out of fear. Not because they truly believed in his leadership skills. Truth be told, he was never the type to be a vocal leader. He didn’t have the skills to empathize with them just like he didn’t have the skills to empathize with his team. Perhaps that was why he seemed so harsh to them whenever he spoke to them. Which was another thing. What they had done was reckless. They shouldn’t have lunged into action without proper calculation and information. Information was everything within their world. The shinobi's life isn’t easy and they could die at any moment. All it takes is a second. A second for the battle to be swayed. A second between life and death. Especially if you allow your emotions to get the best of you, which Kabuki was guilty of alongside the other two. He’d be sure to address them about it. That wasn’t all of it. There was still everything going on with the lack of functioning technology due to Anmaku (暗幕, "Blackout Curtain"). He hadn’t had the opportunity to be completely debriefed by the Hokage, but he had a general idea. But for now. He just needed a break. There was so much going on. A break sounded … blissful. Ever so slowly the man would begin to fade into a slumber.

"There's nothing that could hide from my range"- Hinome Hyūga
3271ea0a8ebbac30be83e500a75e2d29.png

The stress levels had taken over by now, she needed something to ease her skin and clear her mind. The village had requested her to watch over the bodies for hours, and she needed to keep guard so there wasn’t anyone around to apply even more damage to the area or the wounded. We already lost a bunch of people within the country, families, the elderly even some classes of both low and high-level shinobi who hadn’t seen the attack coming. It was unfortunate and traumatizing to many, surely beside the trauma and depression of loss, there had been selfish thoughts among the people ‘Thank Kami it wasn’t me…’ A selfish thought that was shared by many. As cruel as it was, human nature usually reveals itself within their last moments of moments in danger, but these thoughts were kept to themselves to not put any more fuel to the burning fires. What did Hinome think of this matter? She was thankful for the people who made it out alive and was happy to see them recover surely but slowly. But had it been someone she had loved, she wouldn’t be able to function properly for a while. Even now, she felt sorrow for the lives that were lost and the lives that were haunted by their loss. These emotions… they were both a bliss and a burden. It was something she lived with mostly through her life, but luckily they never got into her way… well ‘her way’ was ironic because she never had her own way, to begin with, if one would ever really ask her. What was ‘her way’?

She finally decided she had enough of the pondering overwhelming thoughts and decided to give in to relaxation. She carried on her feet as she walked towards the bathroom of the house, the room was spacy and well furnished. The indigo-haired woman thought it would be nice to rinse out the stress and take a calming soak in the bathtub. She had closed the door behind her figure as she walked over to the tub and reached over to the tap and turned it around to make the water fill up the tub, she was sure to make its high temperature. While the bathtub was slowly filling up she had undressed and thrown her worn clothes in the laundry bucket. Of course, she was sure to make a quick washing session and rinse in the shower before she could enter the bath, there’s no way she would sit in her own filth and skin cells. Surely Hinome wasn’t known as a neat freak for no reason! Right after she was finished she was happy to finally soak in the hot waters in the bathtub, as she stayed in there for the next twenty minutes to calm herself.’How nice…I deserved this!’ However, the bath was so relaxing there had been multiple times she’d almost fall asleep and would be struggling to stay awake.

Some time went by in the tub and she let the water run down the drains of the bathtub. She reached over for her towel and wrapped it around her hair, wringing the water out of her hair. She then left the towel wrapped around her head so she could dry the rest of her body as she used another towel to pat her body dry. Right after she grabbed herself a new pair of clothing: The sleeveless high collar bodysuit in the color of black. And the purple shaded Haneri. She first put on the bodysuit and wrapped the Haneri around herself to cover up her skin, now all there was left was the black obi to bind the Haneri together to form it into a dress. On both sides of her sleeves, the Haneri showed off the Hyuga clan symbol, something she showed off to the world with pride. She then pulled the towel off to continue with her hair routine and then hang up the used towels so they can dry after being used. With this, the female brought herself back to the living room as she tied her hair back in a ponytail midst walking. When she arrived in the living room she grabbed a kettle and filled it with water, now she had to wait for the water to heat up so she could enjoy a calming cup of tea! And so she had grabbed herself a book to read shortly as she needed to wait.

That is when a noise distracted her, she looked in the direction of the footsteps that could be heard from a distance. But she recognized these footsteps all too well. ‘He’s home from the mission huh, a little later than I expected but I figured it would be today knowing him’ She watched Sayu enter the room, but from body language alone and well him not paying attention to the surroundings he was exhausted. She hadn’t seen him THIS tired in a while, did these kids drain all the energy out of this man? She was well aware he wasn’t too fond of a lot of people after all, for him having to care for kids he originally didn’t want to… yeah she supposed that alone would be one of the reasons why he’s exhausted who knows what else happened to him in the mission. She parted her lips to say something, but she remained silent as she smiled brightly. She then turned around to the kettle and grabbed another cup as she filled them with his favorite tea flavor ‘Black Tea - Jardin bleu’. She picked both cups up as she turned in his direction to see how he had fallen asleep on the couch. Judged off how tense his body seemed as he was covering his eyes and rubbing his temples to ease the headache, she could see how troubled he was.’Geez, he needs some relaxation as well.’ But more importantly, she thought it would be hilarious to also take advantage of the situation he hadn’t noticed her in yet. She then tip-toed towards his direction to make sure she didn’t alert him. Right as she approached him she carefully, but silently placed down his cup of tea in front of him.’This oughta get him for letting his guard down!’ She then calmly placed herself down onto his lap as she crossed her legs and took a sip of her own teacup. Surely she would startle the man but she would continue to drink her tea as if she was clueless towards the whole situation with a slight grin of mischief written on her face.

It was true. He had knocked out. Dead asleep even. It wasn’t because the mission was challenging, it was just going out at this point. Sayū is notoriously known for keeping himself locked inside his estate away from everyone other than his fiancé. Socializing took effort, leading took effort, taking care of kids took effort. All of which drained him entirely. But it wasn’t that type of fatigue or tiredness you have after a long day of work. No. It was much more burdensome than that. It is more aligned with a heavy item being placed on one’s self, causing the chest to cave in onto them causing sharp pain. Of course, this was all metaphorically as no such item was placed upon him. But it sure felt like it. The responsibilities, the fatigue, perhaps even a slight taste of depression, all which ailed his mind. You’d never see it through. He hid it well.

Hinome sliding into his lap evidently startled him by the same he jumped back and grabbed her knee with the hand that was holding up his head. The grip wasn’t tight because mid-way through the action he had recognized it was her. “Oh my god!” he moved that same hand onto his chest as he felt his heart pounding. “You scared me!” He made an upset face in response to her mischief grin. Clearly, he was being dramatic because while he made that face, at the same time he began adjusting himself and her into a more comfortable position. One arm gently wrapped around her waist while the other hand was gently placed upon her knee as they sunk into the couch. “Hmph.” The sound escaped from his lips as he side-eyed her and then glanced down at her teacup then back at her.

“I had no idea you were back. How was your mission? I heard it was rather eventful here.”

While he disliked socializing. It seemed that the only one he could ever communicate with great ease and freely was only her. From the time they had been children to now. She was always the only one. It made sense why they had gotten together. They were always attached to each other's hips. The aroma of the freshly brewed cup of tea bombarded his sense of smell. Distinctive and refreshing, he could smell the rhubarb and wild strawberry flavors. Its fragrance was overwhelming, yet balanced. As all things should be. As he spoke, he took multiple glances between the teacup and her, even when she was sipping the tea, in a look that reflected he was shocked that she had gotten herself a cup without one for him. But this couldn’t be true. He glanced around and then saw the teacup in front of him. Out of arm’s reach, especially with Hinome sitting comfortably in his lap. He looked at her with a straight face only blinking at her with the realization of her game.

It seemed like a good idea, disturbing her fiance’s exhaustion. Normally most would greet their significant others with a hello, or start a normal conversation with them. But Hinome, she couldn’t lie to herself when she loved to tease Sayu every now and then. Right the moment she took a seat on his lap as she was about to take a sip of her tea and cross her legs it didn’t take long for the man to give her actions a reaction. Her loose handgrip on the cup tightened so she didn’t drop the tea onto herself or him by the quick movements of his hands going from his face onto her knee. Luckily his grip wasn’t rough because he seemed to realize it was Hinome. She looked at his face instead of drinking her tea and saw how shocked he was as he gathered himself to calm himself down. But it didn’t take long for her mischievous grin to meet his upset expression, and frankly, it made the indigo-haired woman's smile even brighter as she laughed slightly.

“I am so sorry! I couldn’t help it! You were right out in the open.”

She spoke between her chuckles, she covered her face with her other hand to kind of hide that she was laughing at him. Even though that was useless because she made her amusement clear by her hollering. Surely many people knew of Sayu as a cynical man but to her, she had always been able to get a conversation out of him. Even though he wouldn’t want to talk or not. When they were alone from the moments they had been kids they were always themselves. So surely she made sure to take any chance she had to experience his expressive side, it was something that brought joy to her and perhaps made her feel special she was the only one to be able to do it. After some time of laughing she composed herself and sat down calmly in his lap to finally take a sip of the tea she made the both of them.“I just got back home a few hours ago.” she spoke before she took a sip, she paused for a second to continue the conversation about her mission, mostly because it was a more serious topic.

“It wasn’t pretty here, I had to see a lot of traumatized citizens. Some dead bodies, these things are never fun… but from what I know everything is under control for now. These poor people…”

She stared at her teacup as she muttered the last sentence mostly to herself because she pitied them a lot. Her empathy was brushed off faster because of her curiosity for Sayu’s mission.”Enough about that! How was your mission? You weren’t too harsh on these kids right?”
The second question was one she kind of already knew his answer for, there was no way he wouldn’t have been strict. But she knew that his strictness was necessary. Right as she was speaking she realized he finally noticed his teacup, however, he wasn’t able to reach it because she was clearly in the way. ‘Hmm… should I? Nah! I am gonna pretend to be oblivious till he asks me to give it to him’ She thought to herself with a mischievous smile as she watched his facial expressions. She knew he was onto her shenanigans just by the look of his face.

“Well, I’m sure you gave it your all. I wouldn’t expect anything less from you.”

Sayū responded in a confident, proud tone and a warm smile as he tightened his arms around her. While simultaneously leaning in and kissing her on the cheek gently. It was meant to reassure her because he noticed the pity on her face as she stared into the teacup. Hinome was selfless in the sense that she would do anything for anyone she cared about. It was a great trait to have, but only when controlled. She often over-extends herself helping others and doesn’t pay attention to herself. Self-care is equally as important and he tries to remind her of that. However, sometimes all he can do is comfort her the best he can. Sayū noticed she was quick to change the subject, but he went along with it regardless.

“Harsh on the kids..” He glanced up toward the ceiling momentarily as he hummed to himself in thought. The Hyūga was thinking about what had occurred, how they handled the situation, and what could’ve been better. “To be honest, those kids don’t understand unless I am harsh. We started off coming in as reinforcements for a group and they performed wonderfully. However, on our way back, we ran into some shady prison. Kabuki saw a guard spit on a kid trying to escape and let his emotions get to the best of him..” He nodded his head from side to side in disappointment. “Fortunately, no one got hurt, but I need him to understand that this isn’t some game. You can die at any point in time. Life and death are only seconds apart. One mistake, one misstep, and it could be over for them. I need them all to understand that it's not a game.” Once he finished talking he sighed heavily. You could tell that it bugged him a lot. There were so many things to worry about, including this abrupt change in weather. There was a pause from the next time he spoke, “I’ll have to make sure I discuss that with them.” At this point, she could probably hear the harshness in his tone as he had become slightly irritated with their performance as a whole at the end.

In her short moment of absence, she felt a feeling of guilt and empathy get the best of her, surely it didn’t go by unnoticed. How she wished it didn’t come to this, the explosions of that day only took her to notice the dark era the world has entered. The era of peace had disappeared right from under their grasp when no one noticed anything, the saying really proved to be true… You will only realize the damage when it’s too late. The events of the Anmaku had already been traumatizing for the people enough, the bombardment really was the cherry on top for most citizens. Because even though the village was safe right now there were enough that sat in silence with fear creeping up on her backs with no room of hope for any reparations. However, this wasn’t the only tough situation the Land of Fire had been through. The history books repeatedly showed how brutal this world could be.

Ah… how did her thoughts end up here? The warmth of her significant other brought her comfort. The lips of his on her cheeks brought her back from her short thoughts that seemed to consume her focus for some time while it hadn’t been long since she tried to change the subject. She gladly rested in his arms as her cheeks slightly grew to a pink shade with a big smile. While Sayu wasn’t usually the emotional type he sure had his way to comfort her when it came to her sensitivity in sad situations or well basically almost anything.

She moved her face over to meet him to fully pay attention whenever he spoke about the kids. With a big smile, she already figured her prediction was right. But she understood his reasoning to be strict. Especially since they had let their emotions get the best of them, of course, this had been something she had issues with as a kid sometimes too. But at this point her emotional side is only seen when she’s doing anything that excludes a mission or training, it had been the way she was raised to act after all. “They’re still so new to this world, it’s so much bigger than the academy setting they used to have. With the way the world is right now, I won’t expect them to have it so easy like in the peace era… They must know what they’re getting into.” She reached out for his hand and held onto it, it was a small gesture to know he wasn’t alone in a conversation like that. She would gladly help make them understand, especially since handling them was a new situation for him altogether.”They’re still children, but I am sure they will understand… However, be sure not to make them cry too much!” Even though the moment was serious she needed to jokingly add the part to make sure he wouldn’t yell at them. Sure this was an important topic, but with the way, he’s irritated right now she was sure he wasn’t gonna go easy on them.

Arriving upon the Balcony within the Hyuga Compound was Ketsguo Uzumaki, through a port the man rising from the ground. Allowing the gentle breeze to carcass his face, as his muscular hands landed upon the rails and traced upon them smoothly. It was similar to stroking a brush, elegant and swift as his body followed in direction. Turning to face the sliding doors the man's hands pressed against the knobs, sliding them in opposite direction to where he'd be allowed to enter his room. A residence where his mother lived, an estate paid for by the funds of the Uzumaki Lord directly. As his feet entered the bedroom, the clean marbled floor was welcomed at the bottom of his soles. The golden curtains closing behind him, lagging behind the doors which announced themselves shut. It was noisy enough to alert anyone within the household, yet there was no one home. He sensed no one but an owl, which he approached in the middle of the hallway. One hand outstretched and opened the cage, allowing the bird to perch upon his hand for a couple of moments. Before the bird retreated back into the safety net of its cage. It was a unique flying creature, one that remembered Ketsugo of another Hyuga who had summoned them. But that individual was more than most would ever see, an Otsutsuki. Few knew or ever encountered one and for good reason, they were beings of great potential and ability. Someone else carried the resemblance within them, Ketsugo could easily trace it within the current Hyuga Lord who was currently within the Compound and nearby was another. Taking one last glance at the owl, Ketsugo was now remembered as another individual. The thought of the person caused a wrench within the Uzumaki's gut, which eased and subsided by the time the man walked downstairs. Taking a look at the walls and familiar surfaces, nothing seemed unchanged over the years. Pressing a finger on a vase, Ketsugo would take a couple of moments to update the array within the entire estate. After some moments, the Fire Chancellor would exit the house allowing it to lock behind him. A few hundred meters away would be the Hyuga Lord and another, which would take Ketsugo some time to arrive before arriving outside within the yard and approaching the door of the residence. A knock landing made his arrival known to all within, as the heavy hands met the surface. For now, the Uzumaki Lord would wait for the door to open up as he was here to assign a mission in the area Sayu focused on and excelled in.

He could already imagine Kabuki crying to Hinome about how Sayū made him cry. For a brief second, his mind painted an image of Kabuki hugging Hinome with tears running down his eyes and snot bubbles popping in his nose. Sayū was some distance away from the two, but he was close enough to hear Kabuki talking about him. Then, Kabuki looked over at him and began to raise his arm to dramatically point toward Sayū. Hinome’s spacious white eyes followed and when she realized it was Sayū, she would make a disappointed facial expression and nod her head side-to-side. Eventually resulting in him getting yelled at for being too abrasive to the children. Immediately he realized he was zoning out and forced himself to snap back into reality. “Make them cry? I would nev—” he began to respond with a smile before being interrupted by another presence. His eyes glanced toward the general direction of the incoming presence.

The individual wasn’t at the door yet, but he could feel the presence of an uninvited guest. Unexpected guest, approaching a natural cynics home, two concepts that do not mesh together well. Sayū was already antisocial and a homebody, so he took great precaution in knowing who was coming and who wasn’t. Not only near his home, but the entire Hyūga Compound. Invisible to the naked eye, Sayū has a detection barrier with his estate in the center. This eventually allows him to track movement inside the compound through a complex Fūinjutsu formula, deep within the ground in his home. So when Ketsugo Uzumaki entered the compound, both Sayū and Hinome knew. When Ketsugo Uzumaki began making his way toward the Hyūga Lord’s estate, both Sayū and Hinome knew. After all, she was linked to it as well. However, there was another seal that was unique to the Clan Lord’s estate that Ketsugo would not realize until he attempted to summon forth such a thing. Chakra. Once the Uzumaki had entered into a fifty-meter range of the estate, chakra would be nullified. This was because it was his law, his domain. He made the rules within this area that extended in a three-hundred sixty-degree fashion around the estate.

The knock upon the door occurred moments after. They didn’t need to check who it was, they already knew. Sayū glanced toward the general direction of the door then back at Hinome. “If we don’t answer, do you think he’ll go away?” He asked her with a devilish grin. The introduction of Ketsugo Uzumaki, a Fūinjutsu specialist, to his day reminded Sayū of something he was supposed to do. He had already done it with the genin, but now he must also place the same seal onto his fiancé. With the hand on his back, he released a minute amount of chakra into the form of a seal that would seep through her clothes and through her skin, becoming deeply ingrained into her body.
